Strengthening Water Supply and Sanitation in 10 Villages in Gujarat, India

Through the project Implementer, the Aga Khan Planning and Building Service, India (AKPBS, I) implemented better sanitation and water supply infrastructure in 10 villages of 300 households, each with a headcount of 1500. The project benefitted 3,000 households in Junagadh district of Gujarat.

Enhancing Disaster Resilience and Promoting a Culture of Safety among Vulnerable Communities in Rural Gujarat

Part 2 of the DIPECHO project highlights the steps undertaken between July 2009 and September 2010 for inculcating disaster preparedness among a certain geographical area in Rural Gujarat. Program Aimed at Reconstructing Households and Livelihoods Torn by Earthquake in Kashmir 

The Aga Khan Planning and Building Service, India, an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network, took up interventions towards disaster preparedness, enhancing livelihoods, and providing a demo kit for constructing earthquake-resistant buildings for families that were affected by the earthquake in J&K, India.

Disaster Resilience Initiatives in Talala & Malla, Gujarat 

The DIPECHO-based intervention covers 18 at most risk communities in the villages of Talala and Malla Taluka of Junagadh district, which are most prone to earthquakes. The initial parts of the project focused on building a culture of school safety, while the new project arm aims to take a wider DRR approach.

Andhra Pradesh Relief to Development Program: Tsunami Relief and Rehabilitation for 15 Villages in AP

Over 301 Villages were devastated in the deadly Tsunami of 2004. The Andhra Pradesh Relief to Development Project was launched in April 2006 to benefit 14,784 individuals in 4,091 households across 15 villages. The project was undertaken by AKAH in partnership with the Focus Humanitarian Assistance Canada (FOCUS-C), and the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).

Providing Temporary Shelter to Families Hit by Earthquake in Anjar Town, Kutch, Gujarat

To provide temporary shelters to the poor and homeless, The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) signed an MOU with the Aga Khan Foundation, India (AKF, I) on 27th August 2001, for providing ‘Temporary Shelters’ to 300 earthquake-affected families residing in Anjar town in Kutch district.
