Prerana Langa is passionate about large scale impact. As the CEO of Aga Khan Agency for Habitat, India, she spearheads impactful climate resilience work.
With over 25 years of experience, Prerana has made transformative change in the social impact space. She set up and established corporate foundations for ICICI Group and YES BANK, which catalyzed wide-reaching developmental impact across States in India. She leads CSR for ICICI Group. She created a world-record youth Movement with 2 million participants.
Her efforts have earned her national and international recognition, including being named one of India’s Top Five Social Impact Professionals by the Asia Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN) and Social Venture Partners. She has been featured in a book, “The Chef Executive Officer” alongside other high-profile CEO’s including Aditya Puri, Jerry Rao, and Ken Cato on innovative leadership. She holds a Diploma in CSR and Sustainability from the Swedish Institute and an executive program from the World Bank & Harvard University South Asia Institute, and a master’s degree in business management.

Nilesh, in his role as the Chief Financial Officer at Aga Khan Agency for Habitat India, brings over 21 years of experience handling financial management, fund management, financial reporting, taxation and related expertize to the organization. He has worked in verticals cutting across manufacturing, retail, freight and non-profit organizations. He is known for strategy, design and implementation of accounting policies and procedures and internal controls for organizations spanning various sizes. Nilesh possesses sound knowledge of the latest Income Tax compliances related to Non-Profit organizations and FCRA. He is an alumnus of the Southern Hampshire University, USA, where he completed his MBA in 2008. Earlier in 1997 and 1999, he completed his B.com and M.com from Mumbai University respectively.
Designation: Head, Knowledge Management and Partnerships
Anita carries more than 31 years of extensive experience in Social Development with a strong passion for community led development. She is known for her strong and deep relations with all the stakeholders, especially the last mile connectors through her personal leadership skills. At Aga Khan Agency for Habitat India (AKAHI), she manages Knowledge Management and partnerships. Her areas of interest include Programme and Strategic Planning, Organizational Development and Community /Stakeholder Participation and Interfacing. She has presented many papers in National/International Seminars e.g. “Women’s voices at UN Habitat agenda – New York , Sanitation – A new way of life adopted by rural women in Gujarat at Global Health Conference, Sanitation and Urban Issues- a case study of Slum Sanitation Programme in Mumbai, Co-authored -Assessment and feasibility of housing policies for slum dwellers. She has been awarded 100 most influential leader by CSR Congress in year 2019.
Designation: Head, Emergency Management
Madhukar is the Head of Emergency Management & Developmental Programs at Aga Khan Agency for Habitat India. With 23 years of experience in climate action, disaster risk reduction, and environmental sustainability, he has established extensive expertise through collaborations with governmental bodies and international humanitarian organizations. A key member of humanitarian networks, Madhukar played a vital role in designing disaster management programs, coastal restoration, and risk reduction initiatives. He led the Environmental and Social Management component for India’s National Seismic Risk Mitigation Program. Over two decades, Madhukar responded to disasters, providing essential support, and implementing long-term recovery programs. As a social anthropologist and development professional, Madhukar’s expertise extends to program and policy development, finance, budgeting, government relations, and HRM. He has presented research papers at national and international conferences, contributing significantly to disaster risk reduction, environmental sustainability, livelihood, governance, and climate action domains.

Karima Surani heads the HR & Administration department at AKAH India. She holds a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management and has an extensive experience of 15+ years working on various HR functions like Recruitment, Talent Management, Performance development, Training, Policy formulation, Compensation & benefits, People Strategy and Analytics. She highly believes in Diversity, Equality, Inclusion and Accessibility and actively involved in related projects. She is also the Gender Focal Point for AKAH India.
Designation: Head, Habitat Improvement
As the Head for Habitat Improvement at Aga Khan Agency for Habitat India, Sana Dharani brings over 8 years of experience spanning across design firms, real estate development and social sectors, with a laser focus on sustainable development. An architect who specializes in Environmental Architecture and an accredited professional with the Indian Green Building Council, she steers AKAH with better ideation and strategies for better community housing, large sanitation projects, urban heat island mitigation and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
