Aga Khan Agency for Habitat India has been recognized as the Runner-Up in the “Water for All” category at the 4th Water Sustainability Awards 2024-25. This esteemed recognition highlights AKAH India's efforts in expanding access to clean and safe water, contributing towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals on Clean Water and Sanitation.
The award was jointly presented by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India.
Aga Khan Agency for Habitat India has been awarded the prestigious India Water Foundation’s - Water Transversality Global Award 2024 in the Best NGO - Rainwater Harvesting and Water Management category. The award was presented by Shri Raj Bhushan Choudhary, Minister of State, Ministry of Jal Shakti, during a conference jointly organized by the India Water Foundation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Ministry of Power, and the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).
Ecosystem-based Climate Change Adaption project in Porbandar, Gujarat, has received a jury mention at the prestigious FICCI SMART URBAN INNOVATION AWARDS. The project focuses on adopting nature-based solutions to restore coastal ecosystem and mitigate the impacts of climate change. With our partner, Ericsson Global India Services’ expertise in Internet of Things (IoT) and sensor technologies, Aga Khan Agency for Habitat has been able to implement innovative solutions to restore mangroves against environmental changes and adapting to climate change impacts. Through GIS mapping and participatory rural appraisal, AKAH is making significant strides towards safeguarding the environment and ensuring a climate-resilient future.
Aga Khan Agency for Habitat India has won the CSR Project of the Year Award hosted by CSRBox for its project ‘Environment Health Improvement Program’ in Vasai-Virar region of Maharashtra. The project is supported by Larsen and Toubro Energy Hydrocarbons. This award recognizes AKAH’s success in restoring water bodies, enhancing water management systems, and improving water access and sanitation for over 12,000 people in eight villages. The project addresses historical marginalization and prepares communities for future climate challenges by prioritizing WASH access, environmental stewardship, and social inclusion.
